At the beach the kids can play in the sand, build sand castles, and splash around in the water. Older children can swim and explore the beach for driftwood and sea shells that have washed upon the shore. The warm breezes and natural beauty of the ocean will relax you and rejuvenate you.

Before you go on your beach trip, you should make some plans. There are a lot of places to choose from. You can do research on the Internet or purchase guide books when you narrow down your possible destinations. If you are going on a family vacation, you want to make sure there are activities that your children can enjoy other than spending every hour at the beach. Make sure the hotel or resort you plan to book caters to children.

At the beach, make sure you and your family have skin protection and plenty of water. You do not want to get sunburn. Use a sun block with a high SPF rating. If you or the kids go into the water, make sure you replace the sun block after getting wet or drying off with a towel. You and the kids should wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. A lot of people go barefoot at the beach but you should wear something on your feet because the sand can be pretty hot.

Beach VacationMany people go on road trips and make the beach a stop along the way. If you are traveling by car, you should clean it out so you will have plenty of room for your luggage. You should stock your glove compartment with a few items that are in easy reach. A first aid kit with sun block, something for a headache, antacid tablets, cough drops, an antiseptic for cuts, and band aids will come in handy. Keep a map in the glove compartment. You should also have your car checked before the trip: check your tires and you may want to have an oil change.

Traveling with kids in the car, especially if it is a long trip, can be a challenge. You need to keep them occupied. There are a number of car games you can play on the road and small electronic games that will keep them occupied.
