Australia and New Zealand are in the Southern Hemisphere. Their winter is the opposite of the winter season in the United States. Winter in the Southern Hemisphere runs from June 1st through August 31st. Taking a beach vacation in December, January, or February will be a warm treat from the cold weather in the United States. Tropical beaches are located within 23 1/2 degrees north or south of the equator.

Hawaii

Hawaii is a state in the United States but is always considered separately when discussed as a vacation destination. It is considered a tropical island so the weather is warm year round. There are a number of interesting places to visit and stay on the islands.

Heron Island is located on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

A note of caution when planning your beach vacation in the winter, hurricane season in the Caribbean is from June 1st to November 30th. August through October is the peak time. You want to keep this in mind when deciding on your vacation destination.
